The Sub Rooms

Helping to boost ticket sales

The Subscription Rooms

A vibrant public space, The Subscription (Sub) Rooms is a unique venue providing an innovative programme of music, dance, theatre, visual arts, spoken word, exhibitions, and workshops.

The challenge

The Sub Rooms appointed 16i to complete a redesign and build of their existing site to primarily optimise the digital processes, improve the user experience, and ultimately boost ticket sales.

Originally supported by WordPress, the site needed to be moved to a more bespoke, customisable platform; with a key challenge being to incorporate an automated sales and ticketing system, to avoid shows and ticket availability having to be manually updated.

Minor tweaks to the existing design and user journey were also required to streamline the navigation, enhance the homepage, and ultimately drive conversions through increased call-to-actions (CTAs).

Approach
Following an initial planning session, it was agreed that the site would be supported by Umbraco, the leading open-source content management system (CMS), whilst Spektrix (the market leader in back office and digital marketing systems) was chosen as the preferred ticketing system. Revised designs were prepared and reviewed, ahead of the project moving through the various front- and back-end development stages.
Features & Customisations

Reworked homepage

Design changes were made to the homepage to help showcase The Sub Rooms as a venue (primarily through a new dedicated hero section) and promote upcoming shows via a carousel in the ‘Coming up’ section. A new ‘So much more’ element was also integrated, alongside more prominent ‘Call to Actions (CTAS) to encourage both ticket sales, and volunteer/membership sign-ups.

Spektrix integration

A powerful and innovative cloud-based box office and marketing software Spektrix was incorporated to assist The Sub Rooms with event management and ticket sales. The key benefit being the ability for show information and availability to automatically pull through to the site, removing the need for this to be manually updated by The Sub Rooms team.
