The Challenge
Following on from the success of the Revolting Rhymers competition, The Roald Dahl Story Company approached 16i to help with the design and build of a brand new, innovative, and responsive website to host Roald Dahl’s Imaginormous Challenge. We're now into the 3rd year of the Imaginormous Challenge, and have further developed the website around the progression of the competition.
16i previously produced a fun, creative, and inventive website that allows children to enter story ideas using the interactive ‘Inspiration tool’ designed to help them. The design was refreshed for year 3 of the competition, with a new theme and brand new assets. The entry form was also updated in order to improve the user experience.
Key features / customisations
Open to children in the USA, compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) was vital to the success of both the website and the competition; with items such as the age pop-up ensuring content could be restricted. The addition of OCR functionality allows teachers and parents to upload photographs of the children's handwriting, saving time when uploading multiple story ideas.
